Hello all,

I'm sure many of you have been keeping a close eye on sequestration and wondering how that was going to affect our 8-year history of the American Heroes Air Show in Seattle.

Unfortunately many of our annual participants who have so generously supported our show throughout the years have been forced to cancel their participation due to sequestration. We didn't want to publicize our great American Heroes Air Show with only a couple of local public service helicopters, but we also didn't want to leave the Seattle area helicopter-show free for the summer.

We're making a move this year to work with our enduring and ever supportive partner, the Museum of Flight, to put on a general Helicopter and Public Service Appreciation Day. All the plans, date, times, rules and expectations are the same, we're just expanding the focus to assure as many folks who can participate are fully welcome and to increase our chances of putting on the best show for our attendees.

If you have sent in a form to participate in the show, unless we hear from you otherwise, we're planning to welcome you to our special day. There will be the usual helicopter static display as well as the public service recruiting fair, with great folks like King County Sheriff, the Seattle Fire Department and a host of other great participants. The museum will also have continental breakfast and full lunches for all of participants and volunteers. Finally, the museum will move forward with a Naturalization Ceremony that afternoon, planned in the museum's theater.

The day still promises to be special and your friends at the American Heroes Air Show are still involved. We're just backing up the Museum this year, letting them take the lead.

Rest assured, the American Heroes Air Show itself will be back next year. In the meantime, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for participating in this Museum of Flight sponsored Helicopter and Public Service Appreciation Day.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me here or reach out to Julia Cannell, jcannell@museumofflight.org, 206-768-7162, who is the main point of contact for the show.

I look forward to seeing those who can make it on July 13. And for those of you who've been sequestered, know we so deeply appreciate all your support and, as always, we remain in full support of our troops.

Warmest regards,

Jen Boyer, Coordinator
